Isaias Afwerki, constantly portraying himself as the beloved son of Eritrea, presents a continuous facade on the streets of Eritrea. His supporters, forcibly recruited, chant “Afwerki’s son” and “Wedi Afe,” creating a fabricated scene of admiration in Asmara. These individuals are not even paid actors; they are unwilling participants, compelled to echo these slogans without any compensation. At least payment would be fair, but the regime’s behavior shows that these people are coerced into showing love for Isaias as he walks the streets with the Somali president.
The first question that arises is: how did these crowds know Isaias would be walking with the foreign president? How could such a large number of people gather so quickly? The answer lies in the regime’s manipulation. Civil security services are omnipresent, orchestrating these premeditated displays of support for the incompetent president. Since he cannot demonstrate his ability to govern through actual skills, he resorts to staging such spectacles to maintain his image. This is not the first time; he has shown similar fake admiration to the Kenyan president as well. His incompetence drives him to create fake good images to other observers, a tactic of the weak to keep deceiving the people.
Isaias, with his low standards, may convince himself that this forced admiration reflects true love. However, the reality is clear: as the saying goes, forced slavery and forced admiration are new tactics. The term “forced admiration” should be included in the English dictionary, so future generations will understand this deception.
As indicated below:
“Forced Admiration,” orchestrated by the President of Eritrea
